The Mississippi Forestry Commission completes Forest Health flights twice annually in the spring and fall. As of May 22, 2018, the spring flights had been completed. Updated data provided by the U.S. Forest Service in brings the total to 196 suspected Southern Pine Beetle spots on privately owned forestland. The interactive map is up-to-date as of June 20, 2018. Data has not been verified from the ground at this time. Private forest landowners who are concerned about possible Southern Pine Beetle (SPB) activity on their property are encouraged to contact their Mississippi Forestry Commission (MFC) Area Forester.
